1. What Are Cookies and Local Storage?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Local storage is a similar browser feature that lets a website keep information on your device. Some of these technologies are necessary for the website to work; others are optional and are used only with your consent.

2. Necessary Cookies and Storage

These are required for the Platform to function and for security. They cannot be switched off in our cookie settings, but you can block or delete them in your browser, which may cause parts of the Platform not to work.

• Session cookie (PHPSESSID): keeps you logged in and remembers your actions while you browse, including a security token that protects forms against cross-site request forgery (CSRF). Deleted when you close your browser.
• Language cookie (hops24_locale): remembers your language choice. Expires after 30 days.
• Consent cookie (hops24_consent): stores your cookie choice so we do not ask again on every page. Expires after 180 days.
• Saved list (local storage, hops24_merkzettel): stores listings you save to your list. It stays only in your browser and is not sent to us.
• Location for nearby listings (local storage, hops24_geo): only if you allow your browser to share your location on the home page, we store the coordinates in your browser to show nearby listings on later visits. You can revoke location permission in your browser settings.

Our website widgets on Providers' websites do not set cookies.

3. Optional Analytics and Advertising (Only With Your Consent)

Analytics and advertising technologies, such as Google Tag Manager and Google analytics or advertising services used to measure the performance of our ads, are loaded only after you select "Accept all" in our cookie banner. If you select "Necessary only," these services are not loaded and no optional cookies are set. When loaded, Google may set its own cookies and receive information such as your IP address, device information, and the pages you visit. Under some state privacy laws, this may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information or "targeted advertising"; see Your Privacy Choices.

4. Embedded Videos and Maps

Videos from YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook are not loaded automatically. You first see a placeholder; only when you click to load the video does your browser connect to that platform, which may set its own cookies. YouTube videos are loaded in privacy-enhanced mode. In the Provider area, map tiles are loaded directly from OpenStreetMap servers.

5. How to Change Your Settings

• Cookie settings: you can change or withdraw your choice at any time by clicking "Cookie settings" in the footer of every page. If you withdraw consent, optional tags are no longer loaded; you may also delete existing cookies in your browser.
• Browser settings: most browsers let you view, block, and delete cookies and local storage. Blocking necessary cookies may prevent you from logging in or submitting forms.

6. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track

We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC). If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and targeted advertising, and we do not load optional advertising and analytics tags in that browser.
